Myanmar Military Jet Bombs Buddhist Monastery, Killing 14 Meditators
A Myanmar military fighter jet dropped two bombs on a Buddhist monastery in Swel Le Oh village, Sagaing region, on August 21, 2026, killing 14 people — mostly elderly meditators — and injuring 20. Over 100 were attending a Buddhist Lent retreat. Sagaing is a resistance stronghold; the junta has not commented. A UN mechanism says such airstrikes have escalated since December.
