A proposed class action filed August 20, 2026 in San Francisco (Surber v. Oura Inc., 26-cv-08686) alleges Oura rings cannot measure the brain signals that define sleep stages, relying instead on AI-generated estimates from peripheral signals. The complaint claims Oura marketed "95% sleep-staging accuracy" while actual results have "a coin flip's chance of being correct."
