OpenAI's ChatGPT Can Now Read, Draft, Send, and Delete Your Apple Messages

On August 20, 2026, OpenAI launched an Apple Messages plugin for ChatGPT that lets users search, summarize, draft, send, and delete texts directly from the chatbot. The plugin runs locally and creates no server-side message index. OpenAI's own docs warn against persistent approval, which "removes your final chance to review a message before ChatGPT sends it as you."
