Kpler data shows 89 of 112 oil and gas vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz (Aug 1–19, 2026) went dark or unclassified — disabling AIS transponders or fitting neither the Iranian nor Omani corridor. Only two used the US-backed Omani route; 21 openly used Iran's. Argus Media reports traffic was unchanged after June's US-Iran peace deal, suggesting dark routing is now structural, not wartime.
