Victorian Teachers to Become Australia's Highest-Paid After 79% Union Vote

AEU members voted 79% in favour of Victoria's $5.4 billion teacher pay deal on 17 August 2026, ending strike threats before the state election. Pay rises of 28.3–32.4% over four years lift experienced teachers to $151,419 by 2029, surpassing NSW. The agreement still requires ratification through a ballot of all covered employees.
