Trump Says He Will Declare Strait of Hormuz US Territory

President Trump said he would "pretty soon" declare the Strait of Hormuz a US territory, claiming it is "essentially" already American because of a naval blockade on Iranian ports maintained since the US-Iran war began February 28. "No ships get through unless we want them to," he said. Iran's deputy foreign minister countered the strait "cannot be seized by tweet, aircraft carrier, order, or election speech."
