X Open-Sources 'For You' Ranking Algorithm Under Apache v2

X published its 'For You' feed ranking code on GitHub (github.com/xai-org/x-algorithm) under Apache v2 on August 13, 2026. The codebase is 10–15× larger than before, adding model config, filter details, and ranking-signal weighting parameters. VP of Product Keith Coleman said external researchers ran the ranker and score outside X before launch. Developers may submit pull requests for X engineers to consider. The release excludes Grok-based rule-violation prediction systems.
