Eurovision amends rules to bar countries in armed conflict from hosting

The European Broadcasting Union has amended Eurovision's rules so that any country involved in an armed conflict, or affected by a "sensitive geopolitical situation," cannot host the contest even if it wins. The change follows broadcaster feedback after Eurovision 2026 and is widely seen as targeting Israel's participation amid the Gaza war. The rules also affect Ukraine, which was unable to host in 2023 after winning in 2022.
