Trump nominated Danielle Thumann Severs, senior counsel to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, to a five-year term on August 7, 2026. If confirmed, she would give the FCC a 3-1 Republican majority and restore the three-member quorum needed to conduct votes, allowing the commission to act on party-line votes without any Democratic support.
