UK grid operator warns of electricity shortfall as solar eclipse threatens generation

Britain's grid operator, NESO, issued a supply shortfall warning for Wednesday evening as a near-total solar eclipse — the most dramatic since 1999 — could wipe out up to 1,100 megawatts of solar generation. The shortfall coincides with a summer heatwave. Gas-fired power stations were ordered to ramp up.
