UK Consumer Confidence Sees Sharpest Monthly Rise Since Late 2023

GfK's UK consumer confidence index climbed six points to -17 in July 2026 — the biggest monthly gain since November 2023 and the highest reading since January 2026. All five sub-indices improved, led by a ten-point jump in backward-looking economic assessment. GfK credited a "Burnham bounce," England's World Cup run, and sunny weather. The index still trails pre-Brexit 2016 levels.
