Patreon cuts 20% of staff as CEO cites AI-driven transformation

Patreon is laying off roughly 93 employees, 20% of its workforce, and closing its Dublin and Berlin offices. CEO Jack Conte denied that AI directly replaces humans but said it has "fundamentally transformed" the company's operations. He told The Verge's Decoder podcast that without fully embracing AI, Patreon "will be dead in three years." Patreon previously cut 17% of staff in 2022.
