Patreon lays off 20% of staff, CEO says AI is reshaping the company

Patreon is letting go of about 93 people, 20% of its staff, and shutting its Dublin and Berlin offices. CEO Jack Conte said AI has "fundamentally transformed" how the company works but denied AI directly replaces people. He told The Verge's Decoder podcast that without fully adopting AI, Patreon "will be dead in three years." Patreon previously cut 17% of staff in 2022.
