Barclays cut around 5,000 jobs in 2023 as part of a cost-cutting drive (lowering spending), Reuters reported on 8 January 2024. That exceeds the up to 2,000 cuts Reuters reported in November 2023, when the bank was still drawing up a plan to save up to £1 billion.
