EA Closes BioWare, Cuts About 400 Jobs

EA said on October 21, 2026 that it is closing BioWare, the Edmonton studio behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age, cutting about 400 jobs, roughly 3% of its workforce, per Variety. EA has cancelled the early-stage next Mass Effect project. It went private (no longer publicly traded) after a $55 billion takeover and carries about $20 billion in debt.
