Canal+ Completes $2 Billion MultiChoice Takeover, Subscribers Top 40 Million

Canal+ has completed its $2 billion takeover of South African pay-TV group MultiChoice, Variety reported on 21 October 2026. Reuters reported in January 2026 that Canal+ expected savings of over 150 million euros in 2026, rising to as much as 400 million euros. Subscribers now exceed 40 million, more than half English-speaking, per Variety.
