Video Game Studio BioWare Closing, 400 Jobs Cut

EA said on October 21, 2026 it is shutting BioWare, the Edmonton video game studio behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age. About 400 jobs, roughly 3% of staff, are being cut, per Variety. EA has cancelled the early-stage next Mass Effect game. After a $55 billion buyout, it no longer sells shares publicly and owes about $20 billion.
