Eastern Libya parliament approves maritime deal with Turkiye, ends boycott
Libya's eastern parliament in Tobruk voted unanimously on October 20, 2026 to approve a 2019 maritime boundary deal with Turkiye, ending its 2020 boycott of Ankara. The memorandum, signed with Libya's then UN-recognised government, draws lines for sea zones in the Mediterranean. The chamber, aligned with commander Khalifa Haftar, had rejected the deal in 2020.
