Bereaved families call for end to Oxevision cameras on mental health wards

Lawyers for more than 70 bereaved families asked Lampard inquiry chair Kate Lampard on 20 October 2026 to recommend ending Oxevision infrared camera monitoring on mental health inpatient wards in England. They said staff used cameras instead of in-person checks. The inquiry is examining more than 2,000 mental health deaths in Essex.
