Uber Starts Autonomous Vehicle Testing in Manchester

Uber has started testing self-driving cars in Manchester using tech from Pony and Verne. The vehicles are mapping streets with a human safety driver behind the wheel and no passengers, operating under a licence from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and Department for Transport. Uber has not yet applied to carry passengers. London already permits limited supervised rides.
