New BBC News director: Rachel Jupp takes over

Rachel Jupp will lead BBC News and Current Affairs, replacing Deborah Turness nearly a year after Turness resigned. Jupp, previously editor of Panorama and head of documentaries, starts almost immediately in October 2026. She faces planned job cuts, a pay dispute, and debate over digital strategy. How she handles them will shape BBC News.
