Rachel Jupp appointed BBC News director

Rachel Jupp has been appointed director of BBC News and Current Affairs, succeeding Deborah Turness almost a year after Turness resigned. Jupp, former Panorama editor and documentaries chief, was due to start almost immediately in October 2026. She inherits looming job cuts, a pay dispute and argument over digital strategy. Her handling of all three will shape BBC News.
