Isaias Hits Destin as Category 2 After Peaking as Category 3

Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Destin, Florida, at 9:30 p.m. ET Oct. 9 as a Category 2, the National Hurricane Center said. The first Atlantic hurricane of 2026, it peaked earlier that day as a major Category 3, meaning even stronger winds. A storm surge — seawater pushed ashore — up to 7 feet was forecast along the Alabama-Florida line.
