Hurricane Isaias Comes Ashore in Florida

Hurricane Isaias hit shore near Destin, Florida, at 9:30 p.m. ET Oct. 9, the National Hurricane Center said. It was the first Atlantic hurricane of 2026. It was a Category 2 at landfall, like a very strong storm, after reaching Category 3, even stronger, earlier that day. Ocean water up to 7 feet high was expected along the Alabama-Florida line.
