East Fishkill, New York, unanimously blocked review of new data centers using over 20 megawatts — enough power for thousands of homes — until July 2029. The three-year pause, adopted in late June, will study water use and environmental effects. The town of about 30,000, 70 miles north of New York City, already zoned against large data centers.
