Canada still undecided on rejoining Asian infrastructure bank

Ottawa has not decided whether to reactivate its membership in the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the China-led lender for roads and bridges, almost 3.5 years after pausing government activity. The freeze ordered by Chrystia Freeland in June 2023 remains while a review continues, Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne's office says. Canada joined in 2018 with a US$995-million stake, one per cent.
