Liège Student Protests Over Fees Lead to 100+ Detentions

More than 100 people were detained in Liège after Oct. 7 student protests over rising education costs. Belga, citing local police, reported 80 detentions and 27 formal arrests. Students were protesting Wallonia-Brussels Federation reforms — the body running French-speaking schools — and planned fee hikes. Police said some protesters damaged property and set fires.
