Students Protest Rising School Costs in Liège
Over 100 people were held by police in Liège after students protested rising school costs on Oct. 7. Belgian news agency Belga, citing police, counted 80 temporary holds and 27 formal arrests. Students oppose rule changes and higher fees from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, like a school district for French-language schools. Police said some protesters broke property and started fires.
