Kenya reports first Ebola case, brought in from DR Congo
Kenya confirmed its first-ever Ebola case on 6 October 2026. A Kenyan national arriving from DR Congo carried the Bundibugyo type — a strain of the virus with no approved vaccine. He died in a Nairobi hospital on 5 October and was safely buried. Without a vaccine, neighboring countries now face greater pressure to track and contain spread.
