Badenoch pledges inheritance tax break for family homes

Kemi Badenoch pledged on Oct. 7, 2026 that a Conservative government would exempt family homes left to children or grandchildren from inheritance tax, the 40% levy on estates above a threshold. Speaking in Birmingham, she said couples could pass on an extra £1m tax-free, halving payers. Fewer than 5% of families pay it now. Critics say it favours wealthy voters.
