US stocks hit first new high in two months

7,818.93: that's the new high for America's 500-company stock basket. It rose 0.58% on Oct. 6, 2026 to its first record finish in two months, beating the August top for ordinary index savers, Reuters and CNBC report. Since only tech and energy stocks stayed up, I question how broad this really is.
