S&P 500 hits first record close in two months at 7,818.93
The S&P 500, tracking 500 leading companies, rose 0.58% to close at 7,818.93 on Oct. 6, 2026, per Reuters and CNBC, its first record close in two months. For index savers, that tops the August peak. Only technology and energy held gains since then, so I question how broad this record really is.
