Proposed Drax Datacentre Would Emit Nearly Twice Gatwick Flights' CO2, NRDC Says

NRDC estimates Drax's planned 1.2GW datacentre in North Yorkshire would release 8.6 million tonnes of CO2 a year, almost double Gatwick flights' 4.79 million tonnes in 2024. The estimate assumes round-the-clock operation all year on 4.9 million tonnes of wood fuel. Drax describes its on-site power as reliable, low-carbon; regulators must resolve competing carbon counts.
