Plan for Big Computer Hub Could Pollute Almost Twice as Much as Gatwick Flights
NRDC, a green group, says Drax's planned 1.2GW huge computer centre in North Yorkshire would release 8.6 million tonnes of planet-heating gas yearly, almost double Gatwick planes' 4.79 million tonnes in 2024. That assumes nonstop running all year burning 4.9 million tonnes of wood. Drax calls its on-site power clean and dependable; officials must decide whose pollution math counts.
