Nasdaq Closes at Record, Up 0.42% on Tech Strength

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite closed at a record high on Oct. 5, 2026, up 0.42%, per TheStreet. The S&P 500 — the broad basket of large U.S. companies — rose 0.18%, while the Dow fell 0.21%. For savers in index funds, gains rested on a few tech stocks. I doubt that narrow base cushions much if earnings slip.
