Mexico disputes U.S. claim of border shooting, seeks proof

Mexico says its Army, Navy and National Guard found no sign of a late-September shooting from Tamaulipas at U.S. Coast Guardsmen, disputing Ambassador Ronald Johnson's account. President Claudia Sheinbaum said Oct. 5 Mexico has asked Washington for evidence. The disagreement matters because the U.S. sent about 500 troops to the border after the reported attack.
