
Mexico denies detecting cross-border shooting, demands U.S. evidence
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Oct. 5 Mexico asked Washington for evidence behind Ambassador Ronald Johnson's claim Coast Guardsmen were fired on from Tamaulipas in late September. She said Mexico's National Guard, Army and Navy detected no shots. The gap matters because Washington sent about 500 troops to the border after the alleged attack.
