Teen Loses Hand to Police Grenade at School Protest in Lens
A 15-year-old lost his hand at a school protest in Lens, northern France, on Oct. 5, prefect François-Xavier Lauch said. Local paper La Voix du Nord reported he picked up a police de-encirclement grenade, a crowd-dispersal explosive. The IGPN, France's police oversight body, will investigate, amid nationwide student protests over teacher shortages.
