15-Year-Old Hurt by Police Grenade at French School Protest
A 15-year-old lost his hand at a student protest in Lens, northern France, on Oct. 5, prefect François-Xavier Lauch, the top local official, said. Local paper La Voix du Nord reported he picked up a police grenade, a small explosive used to scatter crowds. The IGPN, France's police watchdog, will investigate, as students nationwide protest a lack of teachers.
