Flydubai Co-Pilot Accused of Attacking Captain With Emergency Axe

Co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami — named by Reuters, CNN and The New York Times — allegedly attacked Captain Smit Machchhar with a crash axe, an emergency tool, aboard Flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv on 30 September. The jet with 170+ mostly Israeli passengers fell 17,000 feet before passengers overpowered him; two reserve pilots landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
