National promises $1.75b to start Mill Road between Manukau and Alfriston

National would put $1.75 billion in Budget 2028 to start Mill Road Stage One between Manukau and Alfriston, if it leads the next government, transport spokesperson Chris Bishop said in Auckland with leader Christopher Luxon. Construction is planned for late 2028. The 21.5km four-lane road is part of National's Roads of National Significance programme — its list of priority highways.
