David Robinson, OpenAI's safety leader who wrote the safety reports released with each major AI model, resigned in the week ending Oct. 3, 2026. He discussed his departure in an Oct. 3 editorial in The Atlantic. An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed the resignation to Business Insider.
