OpenAI safety leader David Robinson resigns

David Robinson, OpenAI's safety leader and author of the safety reports accompanying every major model release, resigned in the week ending Oct. 3, 2026. After resigning, he addressed the departure in an Atlantic editorial published Oct. 3. An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed the exit to Business Insider.
