Two birds vie for title of world's loudest

Two birds may be the world's loudest, UMass Amherst biologists report. The bare-throated bellbird and red-legged seriema both topped 120 peak decibels — a measure of maximum volume. The bellbird reached about 131 decibels, as loud as a jackhammer. It lives in the Atlantic Forest of northeastern South America.
