UMass biologists report two contenders for world's loudest bird
UMass Amherst biologists may have discovered two contenders for the world's loudest bird: the bare-throated bellbird and red-legged seriema. Both exceeded 120 peak decibels, with the bellbird at around 131 decibels, or jackhammer-level loudness. The bellbird lives in the Atlantic Forest of northeastern South America.
