Justice Department Will Not Reopen Powell Building Case

The Justice Department will not reopen a criminal investigation into former Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell over cost overruns in the Fed's headquarters renovation, it said Oct. 2, 2026. Attorney General Todd Blanche left the door open to future action if new evidence appears. Powell left the chair role in May but stays on as a governor.
