U.S. Won't Restart Criminal Case Against Powell

The U.S. Justice Department said Oct. 2, 2026, it will not restart a criminal case against Jerome Powell, former head of the Federal Reserve, America's central bank, over extra costs to fix its office buildings. Attorney General Todd Blanche could still act if proof of wrongdoing appears. Powell quit as head in May but remains a board member.
