Spain Says No to First Emergency Housing Plan

Spain’s parliament, which makes laws, rejected the first of two emergency housing orders on Oct. 2, 2026, saying no to a pause on evictions, or forcing renters out, and protections for renters. The government wanted formal approval to ease the housing crisis amid protests. Spain’s top ministers approved the plan Sept. 29.
