NSW Approves Hunter Valley Mine to 2045 Despite Emissions Forecast

NSW's Independent Planning Commission approved the Yancoal-Glencore Hunter Valley Operations mine near Singleton to operate until 2045. The companies project 809 million tonnes of CO2 when the exported coal is burned. The Commission said climate harm to the Hunter, NSW and globally was real, but jobs, economic activity, royalties and tax income outweighed it.
