YouTube to Favor Original Shorts, Limit Re-uploads

YouTube is updating its Shorts recommendation system — the software that decides what appears in the feed — to favor original videos and reduce the reach of re-uploads from other creators. Channels that mainly repost existing clips without significant changes will get less Shorts feed placement, per Oct. 2, 2026 reporting.
